As many other conferences, the GFOE conference (for any non-ecologists: GFOE = The Ecology Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland) takes place online this year. Which luckily does not scare the scientific community away, and this is why the program is packed. Three days of plena, round tables, talks and poster lounges were ahead of us last weekend. So now, third and last day, after10 of our current lab members presented their talks and posters, we might be slightly overstimulated by all the engaging and exciting impressions.
Thus this is just a short notice we want to share with our visitors so to give a shout out to all attending scientist and to the GFOE, but also to the occasion of having inspiring exchange amongst and across departments and subject areas. Especially in urgent times as we face these years when battling the consequences of anthropogenic climate change, well established conferences and gatherings seem more important than ever. The enjoyment to juggle new ideas and to be inspired and challenged by the thoughts of others not only gives us food for thought in the most literal sense – it gives us courage and motivation to further develop our work.
